I found myself nodding at the words of Gordon Strachan this morning. His remarks were addressed to football reporting, but could just as easily be applied to the wider media.
He said: “You hear it all the time — ‘Vote now if you think the manager should be out of a job’, ‘60 per cent think this or that’. But who cares? And you watch the sports news on the television and it’s ‘Let’s go and speak to somebody standing outside a superstore’ and there’s some geezer standing outside a superstore at 7 o’clock at night. Why would you want to speak to somebody standing outside a superstore in the first place?”
