No future for inspirational journalism project

I’ve just returned from holiday to hear the sad news that the Newspaper Education Trust is to close due to lack of funding. Even in these tough times it seems an indictment of the trade that we can’t keep this inspirational project going, one that not only harnesses the power of the media to engage and educate, but which helped produce a future generation of journalists. I’m staying in contact with the project’s dedicated chief executive, Anna Pangbourne, and hopefully something positive will eventually come of all the work that has been done. But the sad fact is that, this July, the project closes and with it an avenue to the future.
